History

MUNICHFABRICSTART – a history of success.

Munich Fabric Start, founded in 1990, started with around 50 exhibitors at the MOC Munich as a trade fair for fashion textiles. In the 31 years that followed, the trade fair portfolio and the exhibition segments were gradually expanded and adapted to suit changing market conditions and meet the needs of the fashion and textile industry. Today, more than 1000 high-quality, international suppliers representing the most important fashion segments present their portfolio twice a year in Munich.

Now established as one of Europe’s leading textile shows, here are the important milestones which led to this decisive development:

2020

Organisation and successful realisation of FABRIC DAYS as Covid-19 compliant trade fair format as the first trade show for the textile industry after the first lockdown.

2017

The trade fair portfolio expanded to include the SOURCING area offering products and services related to manufacturing and apparel sourcing solutions.

2016

Launch of the KEYHOUSE as an innovation hub for futuristic and relevant business technologies and advanced concepts with a highly innovative approach – with a focus on smart textiles, future fabrics and technologies driving sustainability and supply chain developments.

2014

VIEW Premium Selection moves into a bigger location to enable the presentation of an expanded portfolio with more than 300 collections to start off the season.

2012

Premiere of the DESIGN STUDIOS, the stand-alone exhibition area for unique print and bespoke pattern design.

2009

Launch of „organicselection“ which has since been further developed under the name ReSOURCE – as one of the biggest sustainable sourcing platforms for certified fabrics and accessories.

2008

VIEW Premium Selection is established as the exclusive preview textile trade format for collection development at the earliest start of the season

2006

Realisation of ASIA SALON as an exhibition area for first-class Asian suppliers.

2003

Launch of BLUEZONE in the Zenith area as a stand-alone format for the denim and sportswear industry showcasing leading international manufacturers of denim, street and sportswear.

1990

The newly founded MUNICH FABRIC START started off with 50 exhibitors in the MOC Munich as a trade fair for fashion textiles.
