Made from mushroom mycelium – the root network of fungi – MycoTEX is a 100% biodegradable lab-grown material. The sustainable fabric does not require farmland, isn’t affected by the seasons, uses little water and requires no chemicals or pesticides. Combined with a 3D modelling process, MycoTEX can be made into custom-fit garments that can be decomposed after wearing. MycoTex was born out of the textiles innovation lab NEFFA in partnership with Utrecht University. NEFFA was launched by fashion designer and innovator Aniela Hoitink in 2004 as an interdisciplinary platform to rethink the future of fashion.
