What’s up? DMI Fashion Day Live S/S 25 – The Business Opportunities to Come
On 22 January 2024, from 14:00 to 21:00, at MOC Munich – the timing (the day before MUNICH FABRIC START) and the venue (on the grounds of MUNICH FABRIC START) have proved their worth. They give guests the opportunity to combine their visit to the most important European fabric trade show with attending the most important industry meeting in the D.A.CH. region.
However, attending the trend conference is a must not only for the product designers who are present because of the trade show, but for decision-makers from all areas and levels of the fashion industry. The programme offers not only designers, product managers and fabric buyers the information and inspiration they need for their creative work on the ranges for Summer 25. It also provides the industry’s strategists, business developers and managers with the key figures, market analyses and trade feedback they need to set the right course for the future.
In short: the FASHION DAY is the precious moment twice a year when you pause, step back and ask yourself whether what you are doing is still right. The time you should take to fill up on information and inspiration before you start into the new season. The opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people, compare your own experiences and observations with those of others, and build a forward-looking network with colleagues from other companies.

Timelessly contemporary – A message from DMI for Spring/Summer 25
The new minimalism is more than a “palate cleanser” that is meant to give our senses a brief chance to recover before the next opulent taste experience washes over them again. It will last for the simple reason that it has become linked with our worldview. Unlike earlier generations, “simple” no longer means just “plain and simple” to us, but also “sustainable because timeless”.
Two seasons ago, the DMI FASHION DAY at MUNICH FABRIC START was about the question “Should we slow down or speed up?”. We prepared you for the fact that the desire to slow fashion down would soon reach the mainstream. A recent survey confirms that fast-changing fashion trends are increasingly viewed critically: three quarters of all women believe there are too many and too extreme trends. 65% think trends are becoming less and less important. And almost 94% like to claim that they buy independently of trends.
Longevity is highly valued. And that means not only more solid quality, but also, above all, more timeless design. Fashion answers this growing demand for timeless design with increasingly understated design. In this respect, the new minimalism continues the now century-old tradition of “less is more”, but under completely new signs of the times. Much of what is currently being wrongly put into the “quiet luxury” drawer does not want to look like old money at all, but simply to be timeless.
Paradoxically, it is trendy right now not to be trendy. People want clothing that looks timeless. Yet, again paradoxically, even timelessness is not timeless. So we face the challenge of creating a look that is trend-independent in a trendy way and timeless in a contemporary way.
You can find out how this can be achieved at the DMI FASHION DAY on 22 January 2024, the day before MUNICH FABRIC START at MOC Munich.
DMI is one of the oldest and leading trend bureaus in the world. DMI’s on- and offline events with their richly illustrated presentations are probably the most lively and intensive way to fill up on knowledge and ideas. You can find more information on the DMI website.
