The Show

As one of the leading European textile trade shows, twice a year MUNICH FABRIC START presents a qualitative portfolio of international fabrics and accessories manufacturers showcasing their newest developments and innovations in Munich to up to 20,000 visitors.

Around 900 manufacturers from 43 countries showcase over 1,100 collections in a comprehensive range of textiles, accessories, finishings and sourcing solutions as well as offering specialist information and inspiration, making MUNICH FABRIC START an international business platform in a unique trade fair format. Designers, product managers and buyers work efficiently and with ease in the professional working atmosphere, exclusive event program and full range of specialist information and inspiration that attracts up to 20,000 trade visitors to Munich every season.

The legislative landscape in Europe, the UK, and the USA is evolving quickly and is likely to have far-reaching implications for apparel suppliers worldwide. To better understand these legislative initiatives and their consequences for suppliers specifically, Transformers Foundation came together with Epic Group, Gore Fabrics, Norlanka, Shahi Exports, Simple Approach, and GIZ FABRIC to co-commission the Remedy Project to undertake legal analysis of 12 different legislative initiatives. The result is a public resource launching in July. This session will present senior executives within the denim supply chain with key insights and takeaways.

Revolutionise or Perish: Exploring the Open Connector, A Potential Lifeline for the Textile Industry

The fashion industry is transitioning towards a more sustainable model, and the Open Connector platform is enabling different services and experience providers across the entire value chain to industrialise circular business models. The aim of this workshop is to introduce attendees to the possibilities of this platform and how it can be utilised to create new revenue streams, offer unique experiences, and revolutionise physical retail spaces.

The workshop will utilise a variety of teaching methods, including presentations, interactive activities, and group discussions. A comprehensive set of workshop materials will be provided, including slides, handouts, and resources for further reading.

  1. Introduction to provide an overview of the current state of the fashion industry, the need for a circular business model, and the role of digital technology. 
  2. The Open Connector Concept - introduction to how it works and connects different services and providers across the entire value chain.

The i-Mannequin project aims at the research, design and development of a system for digitization, rapid prototyping and parametrization of 3D garment models affecting the garment industry, as well as the parametric and rapid clothing of characters in digital creation applications, where the specialized knowledge of designers is not required. The project i-Mannequin was implemented in the context of the Action RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE and co-financed by the European Union and national resources through the OP.
