In Conversation with Jenny Fredricsdotter of Re:newcell
Although it is not a silver bullet for the suite of problems, textile recycling is still an essential avenue for the fashion industry to continue exploring and shifting towards. Making the transition easier is Re:newcell. Normalising the reuse, remake, resell, remake again, resell again business model, the Swedish company has been busy pioneering a sustainable and circular recycling method that could close the fashion loop by transforming textile waste into Circulose. Circulose is solely made from discarded textiles that have been turned into new high-quality fibres, yarns and fabrics. Exploring Re:newcell's influence when it comes to helping the fashion industry shift to circularity, Muchaneta ten Napel of FashNerd.com will be talking to Jenny Fredricsdotter, the Circular Business Manager of Re:newcell. The primary conversation areas will revolve around alternative materials, fashion sustainability, circular economy and mindful consumption.
Jenny has over twenty years of experience in the fashion industry, working with buying, production and sourcing for companies like H&M and Gina Tricot in Europe and Asia. Jenny also studied Textile Economics at the Textile Colleague of Fashion in Borås, Sweden and has taken several courses on fashion sustainability, circular economy and mindful consumption. She joined Re:newcell in 2017.

Does it really matter? The challenges of green fashion and its pitfalls within social and environmental compliance
Who is responsible for tomorrow? Green and fair fashion is going through a credibility crisis. Without air-tight data and supply chain monitoring, brands can no longer speak about their sustainability efforts. More and more social and environmental regulations such as the “Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz” or the “EU Strategy for sustainable and circular textiles” are continuously being implemented, and greenwashing guidelines guard sustainability communication. And even so, does it really matter? Join a talk about the difficulties & importance of compliance, supply chain transparency, and their impact on your brand!
