Karin Schmitz (Peclers Paris)

Manufacturing Policy, DPP & Traceability: What Suppliers Need to Know by 2026

Jenny Haigh (UAL), Muchaneta ten Napel (Shape Innovate – Moderation)
Compliance is no longer a checklist. It’s becoming a business model stress test. As regulatory frameworks mandates and traceability tighten across Europe and beyond, suppliers are increasingly exposed to legal, operational and commercial risk. This session explores what upcoming manufacturing policies actually require, where responsibility is shifting along the value chain, and how suppliers can respond without undermining cost competitiveness or production timelines.

Original-ID: From Science to Product – Simplified Brand Protection

Dr. Waldemar Berchthold (Fraunhofer Institut für Sichere Informationstechnologie), Steffen Tauber (Evia Gruppe)
This talk shows how a Fraunhofer research approach was transformed into a market-ready technology for brand protection. It introduces the core idea of ORIGINAL-ID: a material-based fingerprint combined with a QR code that enables item-level authentication without chips, NFC, blockchain, or changes to existing production processes. Finally, it explains how brands can use ORIGINAL-ID as a simple, scalable solution to protect products against counterfeiting, verified instantly with a standard smartphone.

AI in Textiles: Fabric Development, Digital Tools & Real-World Efficiency

Bosco Bellinghausen (Bosco Bellinghausen Consulting), Muchaneta ten Napel (Shape Innovate)
AI isn’t replacing designers. It’s replacing slow decision-making.
Artificial Intelligence is already reshaping parts of textile design, development and decisionmaking, but not always in visible ways. This panel looks at where AI is delivering measurable efficiency today, where it reduces sampling and development cycles, and where expectations remain misaligned with operational reality.

DIRT Charity x LOADS Collection: What Lies Within Our Fabrics? Land, Life, and Mental Wellbeing

Lea Lorena Mahlke (D I R T charity), Claudy Jongstra (LOADS Collection)
This presentation shows how we can transform farming practices that are currently harming soils, ecosystems, and the mental wellbeing of farming communities. Fortunately, there are ways to farm differently, ways that restore the land and create a positive impact. LOADS Collection and DIRT Charity explore a different path together: one rooted in re-connection. Reconnecting fibre to land, land to people, and people to what they wear on their skin. By farming in tune with nature and the human being, they're showcasing the first Demeter-certified textile worldwide, and the path of development of new Demeter textile standards. Their approach offers a biodynamic alternative. One that restores soil health, supports farmers’ wellbeing, and transforms textiles into carriers of care, culture, and responsibility.
